Balloons

{Simple Joys}
One thing that I really resent about being a "grown up" is that we are too caught up in life to fully appreciate the finer things in life. What are the finer things you may ask? That's easy. BALLOONS

Little kids really Know whats up. If something is awesome beyond belief, they have absolutely no qualms with letting the whole world know it, and the first person to know? Well, that'd be Mommy

I work at this awesome self serve frozen yogurt place, called Kiwi Loco. Probably the best part of my job is not the free 5oz cup of frozen yogurt for every shift I work, but when little kids come in, I get to be the one that gives them a balloon. When a little kid gets a helium filled balloon on a string, Oh. My. Heck. Can you just imagine the amount of endorphins that have to be surging through their little bodies?? You can just see pure joy exploding inside them!

Today, there was a little boy that came in. I wanted to kidnap him and keep him all for myself, he was seriously that cute! But since his mom was so nice, and kidnapping is illegal in most places, I made do with talking to him in the voice that you have to talk to little kids in and I gave him a balloon and put the little loop around his cute little wrist. I'm so glad that I got to be the one to make that kid's day

{My challenge to all you "Grown Ups"}

Get excited about something simple. Find something, like balloons, that has no other purpose in life but to create joy, and let it fulfill it's destiny.

“If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy, if a blade of grass springing up in the fields has power to move you, if the simple things in nature have a message you understand, Rejoice, for your soul is alive.”

where are we?

{Once upon a Saturday}
One of my very best friends in the whole entire WORLD got married on Saturday. Sadly, I had to work until two, so I was unable to attend the ceremony. Thank goodness I was still able to attend the reception.
F.Y.I
This wedding  reception would take place  in a small town  just of to the side of the middle of Utah some  272 miles from  my current residence. (I will NOT  be calling this place home, If in future posts I slip up, please feel free to slap me via comment.) This reception also  started at 6:30, Just enough time to drive four and a half hours, hang out for one or two and drive all the way back.

 {Getting there was half...no, the entire battle}
The first tragedy to strike occurred (of course) at the worst possible time. Just as we started the leg of our little journey that was Completely desolate of any services (such as food) Mikka (<-BFFaeae) and I decide that we're right on the verge of starving to death. Shortly after making this discovery  we decided that the very next chance we got we would stop to get food. After missing an exit  or two that may have contained a subway we were desperate. Eventually we found an exit with a Wendy's (yeah, we were that desperate.) I asked Ben, who was in the back, if he wanted anything and all he wanted was a drink from the gas station just up the road a bit. After we got our food we drove over to the gas station and to my disappointment there was a Quiznos. Figures that after I buy crap food to eat there is good food just down the road.
The Next tragic event is the main purpose of this post. You know how sometimes you expect something to make your life easier and it does very much the opposite? This is the story of Mikka's GPS (aka: Topanga) (don't ask, just accept it). At the start of our trip, we put in the address of the church in Grantsville where the reception would take place. Did Topanga guide us there? of course not that would make life far to simple.After Topanga ran us around in circles for a short while, we decided (yet again, because this is not the first time she's done this) that she cannot be relied on and made our way to the nearest gas station to obtain more reliable directions.
Here is how the conversation with the gas station cashier went:
Me:I have kind of a stupid question... where are we?
Her:On the corner of Some st. and Some Other St.
Me:... In what city?
Her:(stares with an, "are you serious?" kind of look.) Some town that is NOT Grantsville

After talking with her a little further we found that she cannot even tell us where Grantsville is but she kindly pointed us to the city maps. Cuz Mikka and I are Expert map readers...After we struggled to even unfold them we searched for Grantsville on the map and not having any luck for a good 2 or 3 minutes we found it. Now, let me tell ya, it's very hard to find how to get somewhere when you are not even entirely sure where you currently are. We think the town  might have started with an L... We decided that we would just get on the Interstate and head west because we think that we were more east than the place on the map that said Grantsville.

Eventually we got there. (no help to Topanga). The reception was fantastic! My very first thought after walking through the door was, "wow, this is nice!" second thought, "this must have cost a ton!" There was even a photo booth, AND you could take an unlimited amount of pictures! But the very best part was getting to see Kendra all dressed up like a bride should be. It was also way good to see all of my other friends that I hadn't seen in a long while. We stayed there, at food, hung out, and visited with friends for two or three hours then started our trek northward.

NO SURPRISE, Topanga was unable to lead us back to the I-15. But, in her defense, she did get us driving right along side it. We found our way onto it with out TOO much trouble and got home with no further incidences.

{MORAL OF THE STORY}

Don't trust the GPS.

Now We're Talkin'!

This weekend was frikkin' awesome if I do say so myself. Ok, it was really just Friday, but still. To start things off, Ben and I went to go see THOR (God of Thunder) With a few Friends. It was the best movie that I have seen in a long long long long long long long time. If you havn't seen it yet, you really should. Following the best movie currently in theaters, we just hung out and played catch phrase with those friends.

{Here's where the awesome happens}
At this point we're getting pretty close to midnight. I get a text message from a friends of mine that is getting new furniture. When someone is getting new furniture they must get rid of old furniture. Do  you see where this is going?? So, at midnight Ben and I go over to look at the couch they are getting rid of. So we trek across the parking lot from one friend's apartment to theirs. Apartment number 515. We get there and knock on the door. Wait a bit... no answer. Ben, being the fabulous returned missionary that he is, knows a thing or two about knocking on doors. So strategically placing his fist on the door for maximum knocking power and volume, gives it one more shot. Wait a bit... still no answer. At this point, I decide to text Chelsea and kindly let her know that we're here. she replies, "I don't see you." As it turns out they live in apartment 505, NOT apartment 515. (sorry people that live in 515 for knocking on your door, with great force, at Midnight) Anyways, we get over to their actual apartment and find that it's a nice couch, so we say that we would love to take it off of their hands. Since they were just going to give it to DI, they give it to us for FREE. Honestly, It could have had a Hobo living under it and we would have taken it. The cardboard box just isn't enough.  My friend and her husband are expecting their new couch to arrive early the next morning. They need to have their old couch our new couch) out before then. CLEARLY there is only one solution. Yep, you guessed it. move the couch across the parking lot to our apartment....at midnight. and that, my friends, is the story of our midnight free couch.
New couch and old couch living harmoniously.
Yes, our old couch was a cardboard box.

..And Sometimes Life DOESN"T Happen

It's been a while since my last post. I can explain! This week pretty much NOTHING has happened. For real! About the most exciting thing was that on Tuesday when I was reheating the leftover chili (that tasted AWESOMLY awesome when we made it Monday) I got somewhat distracted with decorating my  empty empty, oh so very empty, living room with hypothetical items (Yes. That is correct. Items that are only imaginary). As a result of said distracting activity, I forgot about the chili on the stove, because this is how you reheat things without a microwave. Well, I was really quite hungry when I pulled the chili out of the fridge and I wanted it to heat up quickly. SO, I decided that the higher the heat the faster the reheating would occur. (You can see where this is going can't you? I told you I was blonde. ...More proof.) As it would happen, I BURNED the chili that I intentionally made in bulk so that we would have leftovers FOR DAYS.  So not only did I burn chili, I burned A LOT of chili.

Moral of the story: just buy a microwave.

I put a little thing that shows up at the bottom of each post and you can just click and tell me what you thought of it. I figure since I've been OVERWHELMED with comments (< sarcasm), this would be a more manageable way to get your input.

P.S if you didn't get it, I love comments and would LOVE to see more. i even put a little thinggy on the side that relates to that.
